Since the beginning of 2023, specialists from the Ust-Labinsky branch of Rosseti Kuban have recovered 2.5 million rubles from offenders who were convicted of uncontracted and unmetered electricity consumption.

In August of this year alone, as a result of inspections in the territory of the Vyselkovsky, Korenovsky, Tbilissky and Ust-Labinsky districts of the Krasnodar Territory, energy authorities together with law enforcement agencies revealed 20 facts of illegal consumption (one fact of uncontracted and 19 – unmetered consumption). The volume of unaccounted electricity amounted to 475 thousand kWh. Specialists of Ust-Labinsky electric networks inform district administrations and law enforcement agencies about these violations.

So, during the raid measures, power engineers discovered the fact of theft of electricity in the Semenov farm of the Ust-Labinsky district of the Krasnodar Territory. A resident of the village connected to the house network without authorization and exceeded the power consumption without coordination with the electric grid company. The amount of damage amounted to more than 100 thousand rubles

– Activities with the participation of law enforcement agencies to identify and combat the unaccounted consumption of electricity are carried out on a regular basis. In the case the theft is revealed, the violator is not only obliged to compensate for the damage, but can also be held liable, – said Vadim Makushin, Director of the Ust-Labinsky electric networks.

It will be remembered that the legislation provides for tough sanctions for power thieves. In case of theft, the violator not only compensates for the damage to the electric grid company, but also is brought to criminal or administrative liability with a fine (Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Article 7.19. of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation). Unaccounted consumption includes interference with the operation of the metering device or the electric energy metering scheme, and uncontracted consumption means unauthorised connection to power grids or consumption in the absence of a concluded contract with a guaranteeing supplier (energy retail company).
