Experts of Rosseti Kuban since the beginning of 2023 installed more than 1.7 thousand bird guards (BG) on overhead power lines (OHPL) in the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygea that makes 85% of annual volume. The measures are aimed at preserving the feathered population and improving the reliability of power supply to consumers.

Places for installing bird guards are determined by power engineers on the basis of recommendations from ornithologists. In the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygea, first of all, these devices are installed on sections of power lines, which pass through key ornithological territories and their buffer zones, nature reserves and conservation areas. In addition, special attention is paid to the placement of BGs on energy facilities located in the resort zone of the Black Sea coast and the Azov region, where power lines often attract gulls.

Most bird guards were installed this year on power lines in service areas of the Leningrad, Sochi and Timashevsky branches of Rosseti Kuban.

Modern bird guards prevent the death of birds from the effects of an electric arc and current. In addition, the BG installation helps to reduce the number of technological disturbances associated with the life of birds that select supports of power transmission lines for rest and nesting.

Recall that in 2022, Rosseti Kuban specialists installed about three thousand BGs in the Kuban and Adygea. The company uses the most effective devices for protecting birds, as confirmed by ornithologists. Power engineers mount BGs of insulating, anti-perching, barrier, anti-roosting, and anti-nesting types. All installed equipment complies with GOST.
