80 facts of electrical power theft have been detected by Labinsk power engineers since the beginning of 2022

Following the results of ten months, specialists of Labinsk branch of ‘Rosseti Kuban’ identified about 80 cases of non-contractual and unaccounted electrical power consumption in Labinsky, Kurganinsky and Mostovsky Districts of Krasnodar Krai. The total amount of illegally consumed electrical power was about 1.5 million kW*h according to the revealed facts.

As for violators, 70 acts on unaccounted electrical power consumption and nine acts on non-contractual one was drawn up. Concerning all cases of unauthorized electricity consumption, the documents were sent to law enforcement agencies. If the voluntary repayment is refused, the payment for electrical power will be enforced by legal means.

Unauthorized connection to the grid is uncontrolled load upon power facilities, which causes decrease in reliability of power supply to consumers and leads to disruption of electrical power delivery to settlements, socially significant objects. In addition, in most cases, unauthorized connection is made with gross violations of safety regulations as well as health and life risks.

Electrical power theft is an offense that entails administrative and criminal liability up to imprisonment. According to the article 7.19 of Administrative Offences Code, it is assumed that as for unauthorized connection to electrical grid, as well as illegal (off-the-meter) use of electrical power, citizens are imposed a fine in the amount of 10 to 15 thousand rubbles; officials — from 30 to 80 thousand rubbles or disqualification for up to two years; legal entities — from 100 to 200 thousand rubbles (as revised in Federal Law No. 307-FZ of 03/11/2015).
