Since the beginning of 2022, specialists from the Adygei electrical networks of Rosseti Kuban have identified and stopped 86 episodes of illegal energy consumption by residents of the Apsheronsky, Belorechensky districts of the Krasnodar Territory, Giaginsky, Maikopsky, Koshekhablsky, Shovgenovsky districts of the Republic of Adygea.
Power engineers made 76 acts on unaccounted and 10 acts on non-contractual consumption of electricity. The total volume of illegally used energy resources amounted to 1.9 million kWh. This amount of electricity would be enough to reliably supply the territory with a population of one hundred thousand people during the day.
For all episodes of unauthorized consumption of electricity, documents were sent to law enforcement agencies. In case of refusal of voluntary repayment, the fee for unaccounted electricity consumption will be collected through the court. In 2022, unscrupulous consumers compensated the company for material damage in the total amount of 4.3 million rubles.
Power engineers remind: unauthorized connection (non-contractual consumption) to electric networks and actions of consumers to underestimate the amount of actually consumed electricity (unmetered consumption) lead to serious failures in the operation of power equipment, and, as a result, to a disruption in the power supply of settlements, socially significant objects, thereby pose a threat to human lives and health.
Theft of electricity is an offense that entails administrative and criminal liability up to and including imprisonment. According to article 7.19. Code of Administrative Offenses, unauthorized connection to electric networks, as well as unauthorized (unmetered) use of electrical energy, entails a fine on citizens in the amount of 10 to 15 thousand rubles; for officials - from 30 to 80 thousand rubles or disqualification for up to two years; for legal entities - from 100 to 200 thousand rubles (by the Federal Law of 03.11.2015 N 307-FZ).
Facts of theft in the electric power industry can be reported to law enforcement agencies or by calling the Rosseti Kuban hotline at 8-800-220-0-220 (the call is free in Russia, anonymity is guaranteed).
