Works on the installation of bird protection devices (BPD) were carried out on four high-voltage overhead power lines in the area of responsibility of the Tikhoretsk branch of Rosseti Kuban. Installation of BPD on power lines allows to save the bird population and prevent possible emergency situations in the network.

Since the beginning of 2022, more than 500 special structures have been installed on 167 pillars of the Tikhoretsk energy district, which has significantly reduced the number of outages due to the impact of birds. Birds are often the cause of short-term power outages.

The equipment installed by power engineers complies with GOST and the standards of the Rosseti Group of Companies. Special devices designed to protect birds from electric shock are mounted on the high-voltage line traverse above the insulator. The design of the BPD has the form of a "fan", the rays of which are made with rounded ends.

Most of all, bird protection devices were put into operation on 110 kV Krylovskaya-Atamanovskaya overhead lines with taps, where 318 devices were installed, and 110 kV Tikhoretsk-Rassvet, on which 165 devices were installed.

Power engineers emphasize that this method of protecting power lines does not harm the life and health of birds, but only prevents them from landing and nesting on traverses and insulators.
