Since the beginning of 2022, specialists from the Krasnodar branch of Rosseti Kuban have identified 95 facts of off-the-meter and non-contractual electricity consumption in Krasnodar and five adjacent areas of the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygea. The amount of damage caused to the energy system by unscrupulous consumers exceeded 37 million rubles.

The necessary acts were drawn up and sent to law enforcement agencies on each power theft fact, and work to recover damages is currently underway. As a result of claim activities in the first half of 2022, more than 1.2 million rubles were recovered from debtors. 34 statements of claim were submitted to the court for an amount exceeding 18 million rubles.

Since the beginning of this year, specialists from the Krasnodar Electric Grid have installed 2.3 thousand smart meters and about 24 thousand anti-magnetic seals to prevent theft of electricity.

Facts of illegal electricity consumption are revealed during monitoring activities. Power engineers check the readings of metering devices, the integrity of the seals, the existence of contracts for technological connection, concealed wiring, or surges on the power line, and carry out awareness-raising activities on liability for unauthorized use of energy resources.

Rosseti Kuban draws the consumers attention to the fact that illegal consumption of electricity leads to drops in the network. As a result of power surges, household appliances of consumers fail, the likelihood of emergency shutdowns and fires increases. In addition, the risk of electric shock increases many times and threatens not only the violators but the surrounding people.

It is assumed that off-the-meter and non-contractual electricity consumption, as well as unauthorized connection to electrical networks, violators are to face administrative liability. The fine for individuals is from 10 to 15 thousand rubles; officials - from 30 to 80 thousand rubles or disqualification for a period of one to two years; for legal entities - from 100 to 200 thousand rubles. The law also establishes that repeated unauthorized connection to electrical grid entails a fine for legal entities in the amount of 300 to 400 thousand rubles.
