Since the beginning of the year, specialists from Labinsk branch of Kubanenergo PJSC (Rosseti Group), as a part of programme on reduction of energy losses and prevention of electricity thefts, have installed over seven thousands of indicators of the magnetic field on metering devices of customers in Labinskiy, Kurganinsiy and Mostovskoy districts of Krasnodar region.
Such seals, or stickers, are, first of all, installed at customers that are included in the “risk group”, in other words, the customers that have previously tampered with metering devices or performed unauthorized connection to power lines and the customers with average monthly consumption of electricity below 100kW*h.

– Anti-magnetic seals are very effective against attempts to tamper with electricity meters to reduce the actual consumption reading. Equipping electric meters with such seals allows us not only to reveal, but also to prove the fact of unaccounted consumption of electricity with the use of a magnet,’ said Yuriy Kaverznev, deputy director for sales and development of services at Labinsk branch. |
Power company points out that meter tampering is illegal and strictly prohibited! Illegal consumption of electricity, international disposal or damage of expensive equipment is punishable by a fine: for individuals it is from ten to fifteen thousand rubles; for legal entities – from one hundred thousand to two hundred thousand rubles. For major thefts the violators may sentenced to community works.
