In 2016 South-Western electric networks, branch of Kubanenergo PJSC (Rosseti group), performed modernization of distribution network of Anapa, Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, Abinsk and Krymsk districts. Power engineers replaced over 35 km of outdated conductor with the self-supporting insulated conductor and replaced over 600 service entrance points.

Our long-term experience has proved that the use of self-supporting insulated conductor considerably increases reliability of power supply. This new type of wire is more resistant to external influences; it is less exposed to formation of ice during winter seasons, and therefore – the company spends less to maintain its power lines in order. In addition, self-supporting wire is of no value to “hunters” for non-ferrous metals.

Dmitry Golovakha, director of the South-Western branch, said: “This wire won’t make any profit for those who decide to steal it. The traditional way of removing insulation from the wire with fire will turn the self-supporting insulated conductor into a formless mass of metal plastic, which will not be accepted at any wrecking yard. Another advantage of this wire is that it eliminates the possibility of unauthorized connection to line, thus, providing maximum protection against tampering with power lines.”

This project on modernization of the distribution network on the territory of the Southwestern district cost the branch more than 2.5 million rubles.
