South-West branch of Kubanenergo PJSC (Rosseti group) carried out thermal imaging inspections of 32 high-voltage substations to increase reliability of power supply for consumers.

Engineers inspected substations that provide electricity to more than 200,000 households and 220 social facilities, airport and 32 large enterprises in Gelendzhik, Anapa, Novorossiysk, Krymsk and Abinsk districts.

Applying the thermal diagnosis is based on the fact that the presence of certain types of high-voltage equipment defects causes a change in the temperature of defective elements and, consequently, a change of intensity of infrared radiation that can be detected by thermal imaging devices.

- Carrying out the diagnosis using specialized equipment, thermal camera, enables us to detect defects in equipment of the electric grids at an early stage of fault development. This makes it possible to prevent serious damage to equipment, as well as reduce the cost of its maintenance, - said Stanislav Moskalenko, chief engineer of the South-Western branch of Kubanenergo.
