Starting this year to combat electricity theft, Tikhoretskiy branch of Kubanenergo JSC (Russian Grids group of companies) have installed over two thousand modern electricity meters in north-western area of Krasnodar region.

One of Company’s priority areas of activity is prevention of unmeasured consumption of electric energy. Within three months on the territory of Tikhoretskiy, Pavlovskiy, Krylovskoy, Beloglinskiy and Novopokrovskiy districts the company installed 330 smart meters of automated information and measuring system of commercial energy metering and about 400 remote meters; tour special its also replaced over 1.3 thousand meters with expired validity of verification. These activities were carried out in order to eliminate the cases of unmeasured power consumption.

Customers should understand that stealing of electricity is a great danger to life and health of people, it also causes troubles with electricity supply, rapid voltage changes, short circuits, fire and it also breaks budget of violators when they are obliged to pay out the damage caused to the energy company.

For the illegal use of electricity the current legislation provides for administrative fines of up to 8 thousand rubles for individuals and up to 80 thousand rubles for legal entities or criminal liability in form of deprivation of liberty for the term up to 2 years
