Over 80 cases of electricity theft revealed in Krasnodarsky power district

Starting this year under the programme of fighting against electricity theft specialists of Kubanenergo JSC (part of Russian Grids group of companies) have revealed 80 cases of unmetered and unauthorized power supply. It is estimated that the electricity theft cost the company around 30 million kilowatt-hours.

In order to reveal and prevent unauthorized power consumption employees of Kransadrskiye electric networks deploy remote metering devices and security seals, including antimagnetic, they also regularly check meter readings. Responsibility area of Kransadrskiye electric networks: DInskoy, Goryacheklyuchevskoy, Severskiy districts of Krasnodar region and Takhtamukaiskiy and Teuchezhskiy districts of Adygea Republic.

Our engineers drew up 30 statements of fact of unauthorized consumption of electric energy, 10 of them were sent to police for further proceedings, and of 50 cases of unmetered consumption. Citizens that violated the rules reimbursed Kubanenergo 200 thousand rubles.

Unmetered and unauthorized consumption are the most widespread cases of stealing electricity. Unmetered consumption means that violators physically alter the internal mechanism of their electric meters, and unauthorized means that violators connect their houses to grids without permission.
