Starting this year under the programme of smart electricity metering and increasing efficiency engineers of Kubanenergo JSC (part of Rosseti JSC group of companies) have installed around hundred smart meters for free in homes directory connected to networks of the Company.
Engineers of Armavirsky branch installed smart meters in village Udobnaya in Otradnensky district. The devices were installed on branches to residential premises near the overhead line 0.4kV. The customers received in-home displays that show information about their energy consumption and network parameters.
These devices will help our consumers reduce energy costs. The company also benefits from such meters as they help fight the grid losses and cut down on power theft.
New devices are called smart due to some extra functions they have. Such meter does not only count kilowatt-hours. It also helps save energy; it can detect the short circuit in wiring and switch off the power in case of short circuit. The new meters protect devices from voltage drop.
The readings from meters are read remotely, which is quite handy. Information from the metering device goes to the main server of the branch of electrical networks, where the operator takes the readings and then transfers the data to energy selling company. This releases the consumers from inspections and visits of controllers and the electricity bill is sent to customer’s mail.
