The programme of Kubanenergo (part of Russian Grids JSC) on preparation to autumn-winter season 2013-2014 included tests on systems of de-icing 110kV HV lines “Tikhoretsk - Rassvet” of 34.2 km and “Kropotkin-Tbilisskaya” of 29.4 km.

Testing of ice-melting systems was held in accordance with the approved schedule of onsite activities by specialists of Ust-Labinskiye electric grids – branch of Kubanenergo JSC.

Such systems help to reduce to minimum the negative effect of temperature swings, icing, snow deposits, ice storm on power lines.

Also during preparation to autumn-winter season 2013-2014 operating and dispatching personnel of Ust-Labinskiye electric grids conducted six drills on elimination of technological cut-offs by using schedules of temporary power cuts and minimizing the possibility of technological faults caused by icing and storm winds.

It is worth mentioning that the accidents caused by ice and wind storms are a great problem for grids of all voltage classes, they bring economic losses as well. When using ice-melting systems the high amperage current is intentionally created in electric circuit heating the wires this way and in the result ice and snow melt and fall off.

Well-timed and properly performed technical and organizational events, specialists trained in solving the problems with ice and snow deposits are to help Kubanenergo to pass through the season peak loads  without blackouts.

At present in responsibility area of Leningradskiye electric grids there are about 40 large consumers of electric energy.

Kubanenergo is a customer-centric company, said director of Leningradskiye electric grids, -  direct contracts between the energy company and consumers will give possibility to develop transparent, stable and predictable business relations.
